About the Owners Beach Lane Lavender Farm is now owned and operated by Dave and Suzy Belt and our children, Kiva-Marie and Collin. Suzy comes from the MacAulay Clan of Nova Scotia. A family move many years ago resulted in Suzy growing up in Upstate New York, near the city of Binghamton . She graduated from Syracuse University before serving eight years in the United States Air Force, after which she graduated to fulltime service as a home schooling mom, rancher, and fibre arts instructor. Meanwhile, Dave grew up in a U.S. Air Force family, followed by college at the University of Colorado in Boulder, a short recording career with Shining Eagle Records, and 22 years of Active Duty working for both the U.S. and Canadian militaries. He and Suzy met while working on assignment in Denver, Colorado . They were married in 1985. Upon leaving the Air Force in 1998, Dave and Suzy moved to Pagosa Springs, Colorado. In Pagosa Springs, Dave and Suzy were local radio DJs at KWUF 106.3 FM. They were also fulltime alpaca ranchers and operated a local tourist attraction called Echo Mountain Alpacas. Also in 1998, Dave became the Executive Editor of Alpacas Magazine, the largest and most widely-read alpaca magazine in the world (available through all Tractor Supply Company retail outlets, as well as select bookstore chains: Barnes & Noble, Hastings Booksellers, Waldenbooks, Tower Books & Records, Borders Booksellers, and a host of other national bookstores, as well as from the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association). In 2004, a sense of adventure spurred our family to return to our
ancestral home in Nova Scotia . We love it here in the Maritimes,
and are very excited about our new venture as lavender farmers! We
also own and operate a
gourmet foods store
called the Sunrise Mercantile on the beautiful shores of
